My name is Lawrence Pintard but everyone calls me Lolo, a nickname given to me by Aunty Lee in the Bahamas. Aunty Lee, along with my mother and grandmother, taught me all I know about cooking. I developed a real passion for cooking as it became one of my favorite things to do. As my knowledge of food and cooking grew, so did my appetite.
When I moved to the United States in 1991, my eating habits changed drastically. After years of living an unhealthy lifestyle, I wound up in the hospital with a blood clot and was later diagnosed with high blood pressure and Type II Diabetes. I was taking an insulin shot along with 11 pills everyday to regulate my body. This new regiment was taxing on both my body and mind and became a financial burden as well.
For several years I struggled with these medications and the side effects they gave me. I wanted to find an alternative to combat my diseases and soon came across "Raw Foods", a diet focused on vegetables, berries, fruits, nuts, and water. With this diet I lost 30 pounds and the amount of pills I had to take slowly declined. But I didn't stop there. I continued on my health journey and only began eating foods that were right for my blood type. On this diet I lost 89 pounds in 90 days. After this I began paying more attention to my Alkaline and acidic intake.
Today I no longer take medication for my high blood pressure nor insulin for my diabetes. I have reversed the effects of these diseases and have changed my relationship with food. My diet has changed and so has my lifestyle for the better.
